Social Mention is a user-generated content tracker used as a search engine to find blogs, photos, videos, comments, and events, among other things, using keywords. It's a free and comprehensive tool, ideal for use with Twitter Search or Google Alerts. It offers services such as real-time analysis of the influence of brands or events. To measure influence, Social Mention uses four parameters:
- Strength: is the strength with which your brand is moving on social media. It is calculated as follows:
- Strength = Phrases mentioned in the last 24 hours / Total possible mentionsSentiment: average of negative and positive mentions in the media.
- PassionWhen you're passionate about something or someone, all you do is talk about it, right? Well, this parameter measures the likelihood that people who talk about your brand will do so again. It doesn't matter how many users talk about your brand, but rather how many times a single user talks about it.
- Reach: is the measure of your brand's influence. That is, how much is being talked about and how many people are talking about it. It is calculated as follows:
- Reach = Unique authors who reference our brand / Total number of mentions
In short, it's a very useful tool if we want to see what feelings our brand creates, which keywords are used the most, and know which users mention us, thus further encouraging their loyalty.
