It's called Web 3.0, the internet revolution. Software will understand what we want to search for and interact with its internal agents to meet our needs.

Currently, measures are being taken within the online environment to better understand all the content it contains. If the interactive medium understands the information it contains, when a person searches for content, software programs will automatically filter the information and analyze which is most specific to our search.

To better understand content, a series of keywords or tags are being created for each piece of internet content. A tag cloud is created to tell us which content is the most up-to-date, contains the most information, or is the most visited.

To better understand the semantic web, there are two important concepts: taxonomy and folksonomy. These help make Web 3.0 content easier to find and interpret by Internet users.

  • Taxonomy: To help organize information on the Internet, a taxonomy was created. This is a hierarchical way of organizing content to better standardize information in the online environment.
  • Folksonomy: Thanks to the tags that internet users place on content, it helps define said content more logically. However, this concept has some problems, as if content isn't tagged specifically, it can lead to misinterpretation, as many words can mean different things depending on how they're written. In other words, polysemy, homonymy, and synonyms can raise tagging issues.

How is it different from the conventional web?

The conventional web, or Web 2.0, links information from the Internet through blogs, websites, and social networks, allowing users to interact with that information. Thus, users not only search for content to receive (sender-receiver), but can also create new content, becoming active within the digital medium and interacting with it.

The only difference with Web 3.0 or semantic Web is that not only will users interact with the online medium, but the medium itself interacts with itself to help users find and define all digital content.
